How to Organize a Bedroom - Don't Think, Just Do!

How to organize your bedroom will solely depend on what works for you. You know better than anybody else what the best way to organize a bedroom is, since you are the one spending most your time in that room. Your main goal in organizing a bedroom is to create a room that is serene, neat and functional based on your own lifestyle. For many, organizing a bedroom is connected to psychological well-being. A neat and clean bedroom usually influences your mental state and makes you feel more relaxed and calm. Thus the saying, your bedroom reflects your state of mind.
Just like cleaning any other parts of the house, the first step you have to take is to declutter the room. If you haven't made any decisions which things to keep inside the room or not, don't waste time thinking about it. Instead start picking up pieces that don't belong to your room and start to get things out of your way and make the decisions later. This will make it easier for you to clean the room as cleaning is part of organizing your room. Remove the things that you don't use, need or want in your bedroom. This includes your closet and drawers.
Be ruthless when organizing your closet. Any clothing that you haven't used in 6 months should be removed from your closet and should be considered clutter. When you have a stuffed closet, you'll most likely end up putting your clean clothes in places where they don't belong. It's also a good idea to use a hamper for your dirty clothes so that every time you change, you can just throw them into the hamper instead of somewhere else. While you're at it, use a hamper for white and delicate clothes and another one for colored clothes. This not only helps you organize your bedroom but also helps you save time when doing the laundry, as it's pre-sorted already.
When you have decluttered the bedroom, the next step is the actual cleaning. Knowing how to organize a bedroom is useless if you don't clean your bedroom. This part includes, vacuuming the floor, cleaning the windows, changing the bed linens, dusting the corners and cleaning all the other fixtures in the room. Once the room is clean, you then have to make the decision on which of the items you put away when cleaning, need to be brought back in to the room. If you still don't have much space, use the space under your bed. You can also make use of baskets and other organizational racks that are space savers.
The last step is personalizing and decorating your room. Since this is your room, things that would remind you of happy times are important. So hang a photo of your loved ones or place it on your bedside table. Also use an air freshener that you love best. When considering how to organize a bedroom, don't forget about relaxing and comforting scents to freshen up the air.
